Welcome Letter
Hello Parents and Guardians,
First off, we want to say Congratulations to you and your child on being selected as one of the new cadets for the Class of 2029 at Bridgeport Military Academy. We are so excited to get to know you and your child over these next four years. As a welcome to our school, there are just a few things we wanted to share with you before school begins in August.
- Registration
- Only students who do not currently attend a Bridgeport Public School need to register. Any child who attends a charter school or a school that is not located in Bridgeport must complete registration.
- To register your child, you can go to this link: www.bridgeportedu.net/registration. All the steps are stated on the district’s website. Please read all the directions on this page. If you need help with registration, please call the Registration Helpline at (203) 275-4916 or come into the main office where the secretaries can assist you.
- Transportation
- Transportation is only provided for students who live more than 2.5 miles from BMA. You can call the main office to see if your child qualifies for a bus. If your child does qualify, they will get their bus routes during Summer Orientation.
- Any child who lives outside of Bridgeport, CT must email Karen Barnes at barnesk@cestrumbull.org to discuss transportation options. Parents/guardians must fill out the Open Choice Application “CHOICE BMA APP 25-26” that is located on BMA's website under "The Application Process" tab. Only certain cities receive transportation services.
- Uniform and Grooming Standards
- All students must adhere to the BMA grooming standards. Please familiarize yourself with these by going to our school website and reading into the “New Cadet Information” page. New Cadet Information / Welcome Letter (schoolwires.net)
- To purchase your child’s Boot Camp uniform (BMA T-shirts and Shorts), you can go to Blakes School Uniform Company in Stratford, CT. There you can get your child’s gym/physical training uniform. It is recommended that you purchase two sets of gym uniforms as they will be breaking a sweat during Boot Camp!
- The Navy provides dress uniform for all Freshmen and those students in the Navy Pathway. If a child elects or is removed from the navy program, they can join the First Responder’s pathway as long as they are at least a junior. They will wear that uniform on Thursdays. On Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, ALL students will wear a NAVY TYPE III uniform, which is provided for them, with Black Sneakers or black boots. On Fridays, all students will wear the Physical Training uniform.
- Summer Orientation
- All new cadets at BMA must participate in a week-long summer orientation at BMA. This year August 11th through August 15th 2025. During this orientation, cadets learn the basics of the NJROTC program including drill and physical training, as well as have the opportunity to meet some of their teachers and become comfortable with the school building before the start of the school year.
- New cadets are required to wear their BMA Physical Training (gym) uniform to orientation. They should bring water or a water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the day. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for all students.
- This is a physically and mentally stressful week. Students will break a sweat and need to wash their unforms or have more than one set. As your children are now young adults, they will need to have fresh showers and use deodorant, otherwise it might be a long and smelly ride home.
- Orientation will be held from Monday, August 11th, 2025 to Friday, August 15th, 2025. Each day boot camp is held from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, except on Friday which will be from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.
If you have any other questions about Bridgeport Military Academy or your child’s freshmen year, please do not hesitate to contact the main office. We cannot wait to meet you!
